OBJECTIVE: Find parents of Harriet PRINCE

Very little is known about Harriet PRINCE prior to her marriage to Alexander DICKSON.  Based upon the Federal Censuses (1850 and 1860) and her death record, the best estimate for Harriet's birth is between 1813-1821 in Tennessee.  In "History of Hazel Creek Baptist Church" (Muhlenberg Co., KY), Harriet PRINCE, JONES, and ADCOCKS are listed as members.  In 1841, Alexander DICKSON is married to Harriet PRINCE by J.B. Dunn, minister of the Hazel Creek Baptist Church.

Alexander and Harriet had at least five children:
Elizabeth DICKSON (1842,KY) Not found after 1850 Census
Sarah A. DICKSON  (1843,IL) First husband Henry KIRK; Second husband John L. ARMSTRONG
James W. DICKSON  (1846,IL) Wife Louisa BEAN
John DICKSON (1848,IL) Not found after 1850 Census
Nancy DICKSON (1849,IL) First husband Reuben L. TOOLEY; divorced; Second husband William D. MITCHELL

The 1850 Williamson, IL Census gives some clues of the DICKSON household and probable extended family.
The Dickson family had three additional people living with them: Thomas JONES(10) and newlyweds William MARTIN(18) and Eliza (Prince) MARTIN(15).
The next door household was Hannah ADCOCK(65), James(19) and Polly A.(11) JONES.

William J. MARTIN and Eliza PRINCE had five children.  After her death, William married Elizabeth BANDY and had six children.

Hannah SCOFELD married James ADCOCK 1805 in Fairfield, SC by Mr. Jones, Squire. James ADCOCK was drafted in Anderson, TN (Captain Marshalls Company)
Thomas JONES (1840, IL) First wife Mary KIRK; Second wife Louisa CREEMENS (widow of Thomas AARONS and Washington KANNADY)
James JONES (1831,TN) Wife Catherine BEAN (widow of Isaac KIRK)
Polly A. JONES (1839,KY) Not found after 1850 Census

In 1856, Harriet DIXON marries Robert McGEHEE (Gallatin,IL).  In 1858, their son Alex McGhee is born. To date, only two records have been found for Robert McGEHEE - the marriage record with Harriet and on Alex McGhee's death certificate.

On the 1860, Harriet and her children Sarah, James, Nancy, and Alexander are in Crittenden, KY.  They shortly return to Gallatin, Illinois.
In 1879, Harriet MCGHEE dies of typoid fever (Gallatin, IL).

Several documents (military warrants, Civil War petitions, marriage records) show the close association between DIXON, ADCOCK, and JONES.
It is unknown if the JONES and ADCOCKS are related to the PRINCE and/or DICKSON/DIXON families. However, it appears the relationship between the families may go back to 1830.  In 1850, a John JONES of Williamson, IL stated on affidavit that he knew Hannah ADCOCK for twenty years.  At this time, I do not know who John JONES is and how he is related to these families.
